One official said that state attorney general Keith Ellison would issue an important announcement in the case early this afternoon. Officials did not reveal what the decision was.
Three former officers can now be seen in a video above Floyd during his murder on May 25.
Former officers Thomas Lane and J. Kyung, who helped curb Floyd, and a fourth ex-officer, Tu Thao, who stood next to the others, have yet to be charged.
Benjamin Crump, a lawyer for the Floyd family, told CNN Wednesday that he was confident that other officers would be charged before the public memorial in Minneapolis on Thursday.
“I am sure that these officers will be charged before the people in Minneapolis say their final farewell to George Floyd, I hope he lies in peace,” he said.
