Many peaceful protesters in Washington, DC, head to Lafayette Park near the White House.
CNN correspondent Alex Markwardt said the protesters “are finishing this week how they started this through peaceful protest.”
They sat on about 250 yoga rugs donated by a group of social workers, and sang “Happy Birthday” to Bruna Taylor, who was killed by the police in March and could have reached 27 today.
A new street sign has also been placed at the intersection of 16th and 8th Street with the words “Black Lives Matter Plaza” written on it.
“This is where this fierce campaign against these demonstrators took place on Monday night, who were protesting peacefully before the president delivered his speech in the rose garden, when he declared himself head of” law and order, “said Markwardt.
Significantly absent is the presence of law enforcement. But city officials expect a bigger demonstration on Saturday.
“These demonstrators have been here throughout the week in hundreds, in thousands, gathered here in Lafayette Park next to the White House, and behind that fence, which has been strengthened throughout the week, there is hardly any law enforcement.” We can see, “Markward said.
“It is the least amount of law enforcement I’ve seen throughout the week and talks about how peaceful these protests are. There is no curfew in this city from Washington tonight. But city officials now say they expect a massive demonstration tomorrow. The biggest belief is that they expect it since they started in a city Washington “.
