The proposal must be approved by three quarters of the 30 NBA teams. ESPN reported that this decision will be made on Thursday at 12:30 pm.
The new plan will see 13 Western Western teams and nine Eastern Conference teams play eight games in the regular season, before the playoffs begin – which ended in the previous seasons in early June.
The first eight teams in both conferences will be part of the 22 teams playing. The remaining six teams will be the teams in six games from eighth place: New Orleans Pelicans, Portland Trail Blazers, San Antonio Spurs, Sacramento Kings, Phoenix Suns and Washington Wizards, according to ESPN sources.
ESPN reported that the restart will begin on July 31. If there is an NBA Finals Game 7, it will be scheduled for October 12.
When asked about the reports, the NBA had no comment.
ESPN reported that under this new plan, teams will move to training in Orlando by the end of July. ESPN reported that players will test every day for coronavirus, and if one of them turns out to be positive, it will be removed and treated individually.
